News reaches me from empireonline and bloodydisgusting that Neil Marshall, he of Dog Soldiers and The Descent, is in talks to direct Robert Rodriguez' reboot of the Predator franchise. Apparently nothing has been signed yet but it is 'about 90% certain' that Marshall will take the job.

Now this is the best news I've heard in ages! Marshall has already made two absolutely awesome movies in Dog Soldiers and The Descent (we'll forgive him Doomsday) and the Predators themselves are, frankly, the coolest aliens ever! If this turns out to be true, I'm booking my tickets now!

I don't know how I feel about a reboot, but there is definitely room for expansion in the Predator universe. Hell, even if they used some of the Dark Horse comics for inspiration, they could probably come up with at least four or five new movies.

Well, this just keeps getting better! The latest news is this movie is definitely NOT a remake or a 're-imagining' but a continuation of the franchise - essentially it's Predator 3. Unfortunately the rumored Arnie cameo is definitely not going to happen - Robert Rodriguez says he's never even spoken to the governator.
