Yep, we're going Christopher Nolan's Batman Begins and TDK, vs. Tim Burton's Batman and Batman Returns.

Let me be the first to say that I'm not really a batman guy, none of those super hero's do anything for me, and I find them a little far fetched. With that said, I absolutely loved Batman Begins because it didn't follow the typical Batman syntax, it had a very rich character development and it didn't make you feel like you were watching a Superhero movie, and of course, it's follow up movie: TDK, is/was huge and has a giant following. I do like TDK, It was a great movie, but it was rather long and I think it is a bit over rated, to be truthful with you guys.

Now we have Tim Burton's vision of Batman, and I must say, I'm like a little girl head over heels for his artistic style and direction he took the series with. It was very very dark and gritty but it was also very enlightening to see a different portrayal of a very well known super hero. I like this version a bit because Batman is very human, but as Batman, he doesn't convey emotions much, there really seems to be two separate entities.

This is bound to bring up some interesting conversation, so let the good times roll.

I grew up watching Burton’s version so I will always be a fan, but these newer films easily take the cake for me. I felt Burton’s vision was more comical and comic book like as apposed to Nolen’s dark and even dramatic feel.

When I think Comic Book movies I think Spiderman, Iron Man, The Hulk, X-Men. I wouldn’t even put the new Batman flicks in this category. They are comic book movies, but I think they’re better then that. If The Dark Night got nominated for Best Picture I wouldn’t have been surprised at all. There is no way I can say that for Tim Burton’s Batman.

But Chris Nolan is exactly what I look for in a filmmaker. He grounds everything in as much reality as possible and puts script and character development first and foremost. These are my favorite kinds of movie.

With all this being said, I will pick up Tim Burton’s Batman on Blu-ray without a moments hesitation. After all it is a classic. I won’t be picking up Batman II though.

Let me start by saying I LOVE TIME BURTON AND DANNY ELFMAN. This 1-2 punch is right up there with Spielberg and Williams, Plant and Page, Lennon and McCartney, Ramirez and Ortiz in my book. Pee Wee's big adventure was a staple of my youth, Edward Scissorhands ranks in my top ten movies of all time (the soundtrack tops) and my dying wish is that Tim Burton will remake Dicken's "A Christmas Carol." I couldn't ball wash these guys anymore.

However, the new Batman movies are superior to the older ones in my book.

Reason 1: Batman kicking ass is cool, but what's cooler is seeing how he got those skills, how he got his suit and how the batmobile was invented. It's like an episode of the History channel's "How it's made." Plus...who doesn't love training sequences? It reminds me of Rocky's 80's montages to Survivor and Arnold breaking into the weapons cache in Commando.

Reason 2: I know Keaton, Basinger, Pfeifer and Charlie from Scent of a Woman were good, but can we talk about this cast? Christian Bale, Michael Kane, Morgan Freeman, Gary Oldman, Heath Ledger...these are the top actors of the past 10-15 years.

Reason 3: Even more than the actors, I love the darker, more serious feel of the new movies. This doesn't make you feel like you're visualizing a comic book, it feels like you're watching a graphic novel and as an adult, I like that more than corny jokes.

I agree on a few points, I like the insight on his history and how he became batman. The Burton films definitely lacked that. The everlasting debate comes from Heath to Jack as the Joker, I think both did a phenomenal job as the Joker and they both bring there own into the character.

I like Batman Begins quite a bit, and like I said, TDK is great as well. IMO BB>TDK.

Oh my God! Brainchomper on the board! I think I'm going to have a heart attack!!!!

I prefer Heath's Joker over Jack's. Too bad Heath wasn't around to remake The Shining because he's probably the only person who could do it. Well, him or Jack Black. :p

I like the old ones. The new ones are just so long and serious.

I don't think there is any comparison. The new movies are awesome. I like the grittier, darker feel. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the older movies, but they got stupid and too many guest villians. They weren't even hardly about Batman anymore. He was a guest star in his own movie.
