GregMo. What's the quality like for these things? Are they worse than DVD? What kind of cables does your player use? I'm guessing standard AVC?

I always thought that Laserdiscs had better quality that regular DVD. I have never compared them to Blu-Ray though so I can't say.

The players didn't have HDMI so it was component cords.

Quality was exceptional though.

Thankfully I never got into Laserdisc. I never liked that you had to stop the movie and flip the disc. That is unacceptable to me. I've also read (http://www.horrordvds.com/vb3forum/showthread.php?t=10679)about issues of disc rot. With the recent releases of Night of the Creeps and Phantasm I belive their are almost no horror movies that you can get on Laser that you can't get on DVD.

It seems like a cool hobby to get into and it's relatively cheap. Just searching Craigslist I found some people pretty much giving them away. It's good to hear the quality was good though.

I keep my laser discs next to my 8-tracks, which is next to the gun I will use to kill myself with later tonight.

You are making me cry Butch. I used to collect these and still have a workable player. The discs were incredibly expensive (I paid over $200 for a copy of the deluxe version of James Cameron's The Abyss).

I got suckered into all the tech magazines that said this technology was here to stay. Fuckers!
