After teasing the possibilities to Bloody-Disgusting last June, news comes in exclusively to B-D from a regular tipster that writer/director John Landis has sold the remake rights for An American Werewolf In London to Dimension Films. As Halloween II makes its way into theaters, the Weinstein brothers are hard at work at getting the Hellraiser remake off the ground and now will be retelling the story of two American tourists in England who are attacked by a werewolf that none of the locals will admit exists. I wonder how they'll ruin this? Any guesses? Two hot American tourists with big boobs in England....

I have seen many remakes and this is one I absolutely refuse to see. They can do nothing to make this movie better, in my opinion.

Oh I'm sure we'll be treating to an "Eye-popping CG Transformation sequence", that will look like shit & not hold a candle to Rick Baker's original...so unnecissary.

I'm usually for remakes in most cases because I do find flaws in the source material BUT I agree with you guys on this. This and Videodrome. I think the original Werewolf in London is one of the best horror films ever made. It's perfect in my eyes.

Homicide is right with the CG transformation scene. My brother Brainchomper is going to have a field day with this one.

I have yet to see a CGI wolf or werewolf that looked convincing, much less frightening. You simply can't beat old school makeup and prosthetics for a werewolf movie.

If anybody doubts how important this is to a werewolf movie, just check out the sequel to An American Werewolf in London, the atrocity cleverly titled An American Werewolf in Paris. Granted, the CGI is 12 years old, but this was the first movie that really clued me in to the limitations of CGI.

I know, I'm condemning the movie before it's even been produced... but I'm just playing the odds in regards to the SFX.

I have to agree with all of you. I will see the movie because I am curious to see what they do. Who knows it may not be as good as the original but it might surprise everyone and end up being a decent flick.

I'll be pretty damn surprised if they can make a good movie out of this. I guess it all depends on who they get for a director.

Director and casting will make or break this. People aren't used to traditional SFX anymore, so CGI will almost be expected. Although, I might see this if they did go the traditional route, it would be worth it just to see how much traditional latex and makeup has changed over the years.
