I've been reading here & there for a while now that the awesome 70's TV movie Dark Night of the Scarecrow was getting a new restored dvd release. All I keep hearing though is little bits, finished remastering the audio, picture, etc. Anyone else eagerly awaiting this, one of the best of the scarecrow horror sub-genre? Anyone heard any word on a release date?

Yay!!! I get to revive the first thread I ever started, a cult classic the made-for-tv movie Dark Night of the Scarecrow starring Larry Drake (Dr. Giggles and Darkman) is expected to get it's special edition release later this year, likely in the fall!!!

Fuck. YES.
Can't wait. One of the first horror flicks I ever saw. I must have been, oh, 8 or 9. It gave me nightmares, and I loved it!

I love Larry Drake from such great roles as Durrant from Darkman and Dr. Giggles, but I am beginning to think this movie might not live up to the hype. I haven't been able to see it throughout the years due to its availability, but I hear about it every couple years. Now I fear that it might not be as scary as I have heard it its. Does it feel too much like a tv movie?
By the way, does anybody know when the tv movie Don't be Afraid of the Dark is getting rereleased? This is on the block for a remake too.

FINALLY!!!!
Dammit it's almost been 2 weeks since the street date and I've been looking everywhere for it since with no luck (I know I should've just preordered it from Amazon), I've even had it on special order at a store here since before it's release with no better luck!
Finally I found it this morning a Barnes and Nobles of all places!
Can't wait to watch it tonight!!

Finally after years of waiting, I've gotten to watch it and what a treat, a creepy lost treasure!
And what an amazing job they did of restoring it, the picture quality would be something to be proud of with a brand new film let alone a 30 year old made for television flick. And on that note, this film was never intended with surround sound in mind and they've done a remarkable job upgrading it to 5.1, bravo!!
I plan to finally pick this up tonight, on the way home from work . . . can't wait!
