I've made some progress in my quest to experience the best 3D possible at home and thought I'd share.

Here's the the instructions accoringing to my Coraline Blu-ray:

"For the best 3D experience watch the film in a dark room and set your LCD or plasma TV settings to standard. And allow five minutes for your eyes to adjust."

I’m not sure what “standard settings” means, but I did play with various settings and it helped a lot. On my LCD TV, there are different picture options like: movie, vivid, cool, warm. These all made the 3D look different. I found that the brighter the picture, the better the 3D so I went with vivid. Plus my LCD has a backlight and that made the film pop even more.

If anyone else has tips or insight please share.

Well my Toshiba LCD HDTV has a PIC MODE button which has options like: standard, sports, movie, document & preference. All of which alter the brightness, contrast or hue of the picture. I've found that when watching 3D flicks the movie setting looks best for me.

Thanks for posting here. I'm hoping more people will, so we can all get a better 3D experience at home.

Does anyone know if buying better glasses makes any difference?

I've heard that supposedly you can buy some really expensive ones (like $150 or more) online that work better, but I dunno for sure.
