I'm really looking forward to this one. I'm a huge fan of Halloween and its traditions, and it's nice to see a horror movie which actually brings them front and center. Also nice to see the old-style anthology format being revived. I believe that horror stories are often more effective in shorter formats.
I'm equally disappointed in the handling of the release of this movie. This was originally slated for release October of 2007, but Warner put it on the shelf. Last year it was screened at numerous horror fan events, where it got rave reviews from fans and critics alike. Now it's going straight to DVD for the rest of us who weren't lucky enough to see one of those screenings. Granted, it's better that it's finally getting a wide release of some sort, but I would have much rather seen this flick on the big screen during the Halloween season than the umpteenth Saw sequel.

I was wondering what the story was behind that movie, I've heard about it for quite some time now and I read some great reviews on it, but I couldn't find it anywhere. I didn't know if it was getting re-released or what the deal was. Bummer that it's not going to hit the big screen, it probably doesn't appeal to a wide enough audience outside of horror nuts.

I have high hopes that these types of films will be in theaters like they used to. We just need one to make a lot of money and that will star the new trend.
But yeah, I'm very much looking forward to seeing this movie. I freaking love Halloween movies.

This movie has been in my Netflix "saved" list for eternity. I'm dying to see it, but heard they're delaying release due to children being killed in the movie.

I've been looking forward to this one for a while now myself, hell I've had the "Sam(hain?)" action figure from Neca for a while. This 9 mins of the movie was a BD Live feature of the Friday the 13th BR & I've watched it a few times, and it actually really freaked my wife out (big time) when Sam's mask comes off. It will be a immediate BR purchase when it comes out in Oct!!!

It looks like a can't miss, I am pissed that it got skipped in my Netflix queue to the dreaded long wait, tell me if it is worth owning.
I hope Chomper doesn't watch it and ruin it by attempting to apply logic to the movie.

I got my copy from the studio yesterday. Those fuckers sent me a DVD as apposed to Blu-ray. Those basterds!!!
Dio - Everyone tells me that it's one of the best horror movies in like 30 years. GregMo on the site gave it a 4.5. I think it warrants a purchase. If I were you I'd buy it used though. :)
I'm watching it this weekend at our horror film festival.

I had a hell of a time finding this DVD. My day starts off like this.. I go to the bank, where there is a blockbuster right next door to the bank. I say fuck that, I'll go to Best Buy because it will probably be a little cheaper there. I go to Best Buy, they don't fucking have it. I go to a Blockbuster by Best Buy, they have it for rent, not for sale.. Magical.. I didn't rent it there because I didn't have an account at that Blockbuster. Then, I'm driving home and end up at the BlockBuster near my house (and the bank), and they had it for Rent, not for sale... So I go to rent it, and the fucking dickhead tells me I don't have an account there.. I've been going to that BlockBuster for 10+ years and suddenly my account isn't there?
Whatever, I make a new account, get the DVD, work out (and die from working out), and finally watch the DVD.
Worth every fucking step. I will be purchasing this DVD and I'm already planning on bringing it over to peoples houses for the next couple of days.

Butcher, what is on your movie line up for your horror-fest this weekend? Halloween themed movies? I'm thinking of a Southern version in a few weekends. Horror movies, beer, and Type O blasting out the stereo!

GregMo, I feel ya, I'm a little nervous. It isn't just here, the folks that rate on Netflix have a huge chubby for it also, it just proves that there is a demand for new/original horror films. I tend to grade liberal, and it will be cool to have a Halloween themed movie in the collection to watch every year without the name Michael Myers involved. So I can't go wrong.

Really, I had no doubts that I would like this film. I read posotive reviews but I didn't dig too deep into it. Get the movie for yourself and you be the judge.
It was a fun, solid, and entertaining horror movie. It's not going to scare the shit out of you, you're going to enjoy it.
Weather you enjoy it as much as some people are, that's your call.

As long as people remember that it isn't scary, and hardly bloody. But it is good spooky storytelling.

i took it more of a horror/suspense/thriller instead of walking into it thinking straight horror movie
and i thought it was really good, the movie stands on its story telling, and the story and the adventure is fun and interesting to follow
i hope everyone else likes it

I bought the Blu-Ray on it's release date and I really enjoyed it, shorter than I expected it to be, but it was a very cool film. I also liked the short-film too, reminded me of Tim Burton's stuff.
Word is Doughtery has a sequel in mind!
In a word: Fantastic.
I finally got to see TRICK R' TREAT, night before last, and it turned out to be everything I'd heard it was and more.
A classic for the season. I look forward to watching this one every Halloween with the family.

I still can't find it, I searched Best Buys and Targets in my area, still an extra long wait on Netflix,,,,,,,AAAHHHHGGGGGG
Yeah, I had a hard time finding it too. Had to drive about 20 minutes, to a Best Buy between here and Asheville, to get it. I was really bummed when I discovered that my big Super Wal-Fart didn't have it.
