Jaime King (My Bloody Valentine 3D), Briana Evigan and Alexa Vega will join Deborah Ann Woll in Darren Lynn Bousman's remake of Mother's Day. The director announced via Twitter this evening that Shawn Ashmore has also been cast. King, he says, will play "Beth."

This is Bousman's second collaboration with Vega after she starred in his horror rock musical Repo! The Genetic Opera. Evigan, who will be seen next month in Sorority Row, starred in Bousman's "Fear Itself" episode "New Year's Day."

Mother's Day, a remake of the '80s Troma production, concerns a villainous family return to the house where they grew up and terrorize the new owners and their guests.

Thanks for posting news GregMo!!

It appears that Jaime King is becoming a little Scream Queen. Wasn't she in Hostel 2 as well?

I like Darren Lynn Bousman and will definitely check it out but I don't get why they are remaking Mother's Day...the original kinda sucked...

It did have one of the more original movie posters though for its time. An old mother with a skull head sitting in a rocking chair with the present of a head in a box. Classic.

I'm not a fan of Hollywood's remake mania, but I believe this is actually the sort of movie which would make a good candidate because it's not well-regarded or well-known.

Whenever Hollywood tackles horror movies which are either classics or part of a well-known franchise, they set themselves up for criticism. This is one of those movies where a complete overhaul might actually improve on the original.

Or it may wind up being just another in a line of fair-to-middling horror remake efforts.
