Just discovered your great podcast a few weeks back, and am already hooked on both it and Hits from Hell...
Inspired by the responses to a reply I made in another thread in which I made mention that I'd recently been rewatching some "hixploitation" (i.e., movies exploiting the rural life...y'know, hillbilly flicks), I began wondering if Movies About Girls had ever focused on any of it? If so, what episodes?
Some of my favorites:
Li'L Abner (Mascot Pictures, 1940)
Private Snuffy Smith
Hillbilly Blitzkrieg
Any of H.G. Lewis' forays into the subgenre (Moonshine Mountain, 2000 Maniacs, This Stuf'll Kill Ya!, Year of the Yahoo)
Cockfighter
The Moonrunners-(basis and prototype for the TV show "The Dukes of Hazzard")
Rooster: Spurs of Death!- Vince Van Patten, Jeff Corey, washed up cowboy star Ty Hardin, a creepy midget and chicken fighting? Sign me up!
I've checked out a few of Something Weird's DVD releases of late 60s/early 70s softcore comedies that might fit the bill (mainly Sassy Sue and The Pig-Keeper's Daughter), and was wondering if the crew at MAG could offer up some other recommendations...
