Any surprises to anyone?

I just watched the short film that 9 is based on and it looks like 9 has great potential. I just home there is dialog in the movie, unlike the short.

I was hoping 9 would do better, but I suppose the PG-13 rating may have scared off some family viewers. It also wasn't released in a 3D version, which seems to be a requirement to have a hit animated movie these days.

Sorority Row and Whiteout aren't posting suprising numbers. Neither one had much of a marketing campaign, nor looked particularly interesting in the ads I did see.

The Tyler Perry movie in the top slot isn't a surprise. His movies tend to get released during the off-seasons, and do well during those times.

Don't worry, the little fellas talk in the movie. Elijah Wood, John C. Reilly, Jennifer Connelly, Christopher Plummer, Martin Landau, and Crispin Glover supply voices.
