Once again, Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment will team up with Panasonic to educate consumers about Blu-ray in conjunction with the Blu-ray release of 'Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs'. The commercial will tout the advantage of Blu-ray, including better picture and scratch-resistant coating.

Eric Maehara, Vice President of Worldwide Communications for Disney, commented, "We want to take the technology to the family and demystify it."

Disney will also launch the website DisneyUpgrade2Blu where owners of Disney DVDs can receive a $10 discount when they upgrade to Blu-ray. The first participating title on the website will be 'Snow White', but many catalog titles will be added in the weeks following its release. Panasonic is also expected to announced their own incentives program soon.

Additionally, Disney will be placing a trailer on their upcoming Blu-ray titles showing consumers how to use digital copies. The information has been available on the DisneyFile website, but Disney believes some consumers are still skipping over the technology:

"A lot of consumers are buying the combo packs," said Maehara, "but they are not fully understanding how to use them."

'Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs' is scheduled to be released October 6th.

I have to give it to them, one of the best ways to sell something to people is to convince them its a great bargain for their money. Not a largely used technique, but people are going to have to get more clever as this money crunch continues.
