I've never even heard of Insex.com (http://insex.com/). Is this is all some elaborate viral thing?

From Cinesploitation (http://www.cinesploitation.com/?p=4790):

Graphic Sexual Horror on DVD coming from Synapse films:

http://www.cinesploitation.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/05/graphicsexualhorrorDVD.jpg

Graphic Sexual Horror takes a peek behind the terrifying facade of Insex.com, the most notorious of bondage websites, exploring the dark mind of its artistic creator and asking hard questions about personal responsibility. Original Insex footage, behind-the-scenes interactions, and interviews with PD, models, members, and staff reveal deep fascinations with bondage and sadomasochism that run parallel, and in fact become irreversibly entwined with the lure of money.

Graphic Sexual Horror, the movie that is so explicit that it was banned from Amazon.com will be released by Synapse Films on a Special Edition DVD August 10, 2010.

Is this that European site that got in trouble recently for kidnap/torture (not in performer's contract)? I remember some story about a worker refusing to continue whipping the performer, and so the owner did it instead - worker called the cops, and it got shut down. Maybe this is something else.

Either way, no "boners" if there are people being exploited/pushed beyond stated boundaries. Otherwise, it will simply be interesting. Guess we'll have to see (or not).

A review of GSH :
http://sexgenderbody.com/content/film-review-graphic-sexual-horror

I don't know anything about the site as a porn site, nor have I seen this documentary, but I do remember the controversy about insex (and other sites) being shut down. There were no overt criminal or civil violations involved; officials in the Bush administration went to the banks the site used to process payments and apparently implied that maybe they were funding terrorists. No evidence of this (if any existed) was given, and legal remedies were blocked under the Patriot Act. So the site wasn't shut down directly, but they couldn't process credit cards any more, so they sold the name and video inventory to a Dutch company.
This same thing was done to a bunch of porn sites, as well as some gambling sites; all smallish organizations who couldn't really do anything about it.
This is all from memory, and I didn't delve into it very deeply at the time, so don't take it as gospel. Wikipedia doesn't mention the Patriot Act aspect at all (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Insex), but it was definitely reported on at the time.

The same people are back doing the same thing here:

It is very Videodrome-my.

On the other hand, here's a site catering to the fetish of girls popping balloons! Weee!

^ I always thought Kink.com was totally on the level -- I've never seen their stuff, but people who are generally aware of feminist issues etc support the site, or extol its quality product. Do you mean it's the exact same folks who ran insex? I'm not into BDSM, but I got the impression that Kink are very professional. I may be wrong.

Oh, never mind -- I just read the wiki page, and this isn't what I thought it was. It seems as though there was at least some level of BDSM community involvement -- I don't have an issue with BDSM, but of course when money and people who aren't really into it play a factor, things can become a bit fucked up.

Looks like the documentary will actually be interesting - I'll probably watch it.

P.S. that terrorism shit is nuts!

No boners, but it looks like a pretty interesting film; that is, of course, if I could watch it without pulling a Holly.

"Boner? Buzzkill? WTF?"

I dunno -- it seems like the answer to this question is completely dependent on one's taste for S&M.
If you are a big S&M fan, then this is perfect.
If you don't enjoy that scene, then this probably holds no interest for you.
But there's really no universal answer that would apply to everyone...

I want to see this because of the trailers. The title described it perfectly, apparently. I'll probably never find it though. I doubt Netflix is throwing this up.
