I can't believe we didn't have this thread yet, I mean we've got it's Blu-Ray counterpart, so I picked up my (highly anticipated) copy of Night of the Creeps this morning & will be digging into it's goodness soon. Unfortunately the other title I was excited about this week, The Video Dead is AWOL, I've called every movie retailer in town already & no one recieved it. I had this problem a few weeks ago with Phantasm 2, no one in my town got it until the week after it's release, WTF? I certainly hope this means I'll be able to find the Video Dead next week, but this reoccuring problem of the smaller horror releases not arriving for their release date bugs...

They appear to be rare prints, films that aren’t officially on DVD and OOP stuff. I found them when I was searching for an uncut version of Death Wish 2. If it wasn’t for the recent announcement that Shout Factory will be releasing the Roger Corman library I would have already ordered Humaniods of the Deep and Star Crash from them. There are dozens of movies on their site I’m interested in getting.

For the Director's Cut of House of the Dead they used entirely different (goofy and funny) takes, there's pop-up bubbles throughout the whole film pointing out the stupidity of things and at times you'll hear Herr Boll yelling at his "actors". It was awesome, hysterical, we laughed our fucking asses off!!!

We always buy posters at shows (which we have been going to a lot lately) so we have been buying a lot of frames. Trying to get rid of that ratty poster look from college now that college is over.

Thanks for the recommendation. I hadn't heard of Blood Night: The Legend of Mary Hatchet, but I've looked it up and I'm ordering it online. CD Universe has it listed at $9.84 with a release date of August 3rd. Amazon have it available now at $17.99 as a DVD-R manufactured on demand item. I'm a cheapskate, so I'll probably order from CD Universe and wait a few weeks.

I bought Sherlock today. This is the BBC's updated version of Sherlock Holmes (set in the modern day). There are three episodes and if you're into Holmes, this is well worth a look.

My girlfriend has recently been going around car boot sales looking for Point Horror books and she picked these up for me, most of them are unopened, all legit. AWESOME!
They cost about £10 for all of them.

I don't buy DVD's, but I just pre-ordered Last of the Mohicans on Blu-ray. Love that movie. I also bought the Evil Dead Blu-ray that came out last week. And I picked up the Lost collection on Blu-ray, and Event Horizon [the Steelbook collection]

The only thing I bought this week was the Black Cauldron, 25th anniversary ed. Funny I haven't seen this movie since it was in theaters, 25 years ago, when I was my daughters age, who's watching it right now, crazy.

I can't believe this has no U.S. release currently planned, with a title like that how can you go wrong?!!

It's very enjoyable. The director has an opening message before the film starts: "I want you to watch the film mindlessly and laugh," he says. It's good advice. This is a cheap-looking film with some dodgy special effects (there's one sequence where some body parts are floating through the air and string is clearly visible), but it's great fun to watch. There are a couple of brief topless shots of some of the girls, but they are scantily-attired all the way through the film. The basic storyline is that the leading five characters are strippers. When they move to a new location for their next job, they find a secret door in their dressing room. This leads to a cellar which has a library of occult books stored in it. One of the strippers reads an incantation out of one of the books and this results in the dead returning to life. The strippers prove quite adept at fighting off the zombies. A sexy girl slicing and dicing zombies with a chainsaw is a guaranteed good time. There are some very over the top zombies and the subtitles are often pretty funny, too. It's only about 70 minutes long, but they are 70 fun-packed minutes.

Awesome, glad to see it's been released in the UK, I really enjoyed it too!
Did you have to purchase it online, cause it still hasn't been released to retailers here?

It's available in the shops over here (although I did buy my copy from Amazon). Before the UK release was confirmed I had intended to import it from the U.S. and I pre-ordered it with CD Universe, but the release was pulled for some reason. I am a little disappointed that the DVD doesn't have any bonus material because I'm sure that a commentary track and some behind the scenes stuff would have been fascinating.

I haven't had the chance to watch this yet, but it seems like I ought to do so asap!
I enjoyed the NIGHT OF THE DEMONS remake as well. Sure, it ain't the original, but I thought it was quite a bit of fun.
The only thing they did wrong: Diorra Baird and Bobbi Sue Luther (I *think* I've got their names right) really should have shown some skin. What a waste.

Watched it tonight. I thought it was quite enjoyable without being great. Although I've seen the original once many years ago on VHS (the original has never been issued on DVD over here) I can't really remember enough about it to give an opinion on which version I prefer. I'd certainly watch the new version again, though. Maybe I need to get myself a copy of the original as well.

Definately a fun Halloween Horror flick, not as great as the original which is just a classic, but I'd certainly say it was superior to the sequels. But dammit why was Tiffany Shepis relagated to a glorified cameo?
