2012 is the year I vowed to get back into gaming. It’s been a large part of my life since the early 1980’s but due to children, work and Killer Reviews it had taken a back seat. To put it more directly, it had taken a back seat in someone else’s car. Now, two weeks into the New Year and I’ve already logged 40 plus hours of gaming goodness. What am I playing you ask? Everything from Skyrim to Dungeon Master, and I’m loving every minute.

So many games so little time. In the onslaught of First Person Shooter games this year you’d think one of them would have a lock as my “game of the year.” Well you couldn't be more wrong. There’s a strong argument to be had that the majority of FPS games released this year fell way short of the mark for greatness when it came to the campaign. The only 2 exceptions that I can think of are Resistance 3 and Gears of War 3. Both of these have a decent story and exceptional game play... and a campaign that doesn't leave you pissed off about wasting $60. For me, there is a very ...

Merry Christmas Everyone! Just opened my presents which contained the following DVDs:Thor and X-Men: First Class were the super-hero films that I most wanted to see this year. The trailer for Captain America didn't leave me feeling that this was a must-see at the cinema. I'll probably make this the first film I watch this afternoon, though.Being Human is a series that I've found surprisingly entertaining. I haven't seen any ...

I'm a long-time fan of the DVD format, getting my feet wet with the media at some point right after the players and discs hit the street retail-wise, around early 1998, after years of being a die-hard VHS-ophile. Being a film buff in general, and an information junkie, the audio commentary became a favorite supplement of any disc's "special features" for me, and after 12 years and nearly 2700 discs later (check my DVD Aficianado profile for my creditials), I'd like to think I have a pretty good grasp on what makes a good commentary, at least enough of one to make an educated guess.

Above: Around 60% of what I like to call "My Beast of Burden"

Now...I have few simple and easy to remember rules of thumb when it comes to the criteria a commentary must meet to be considered "Entertaining"... ...

Chainsaw Kiss is a production company I am a part of with some extremely talented friends of mine. It started in the summer of 2008, the brain child of Victor Bonacore. He moved in with me actually, and my other roommate was Joey Smack previously of Factory 2000 and "Duck! The Carbine High Massacre" fame. With 3 creative movie makers living under one roof, it was only inevitable that we would start making stuff together, and we did from the encouragement and ambition... Read More!

Tony Scott bugs me. There. I said it. Tony Scott bugs me. There is no working director out there that I think has squandered as many opportunities as Tony Scott. According to the bible that is imdb.com, Tony Scott has directed 26 titles. Each of his titles have some of the biggest names in Hollywood attached to the film poster. He’s worked with Tom Cruise, Eddie Murphy, Brad Pitt, Gene Hackman, Robert DeNiro, John Travolta, Bruce Willis and Denzel ... Read More!

It was the summer of 1997. Star Wars was released in theatres and line-ups for screenings looked more like mob scenes. I was 9-years-old and was absolutely fascinated by the prospect of a science fiction film full of adventure, aliens and epic battles that took place in space. My father took me to see the film. One of only three we would see together. I remember leaving the theatre thinking I had just seen the most incredible thing ever made. Soon after, I had to have everything Star Wars... Read More!

Aaron Marshall is a young talent with an eye for editing and a knack for documentaries. He has recently released "Zombie Girl: The Movie", a story about a 12-year old girl, Emily Hagins, who is set on making a zombie film. With the help of her mother, she pursues her dream and gets results. I talked with Aaron in early October 2010 and got the scoop on "Zombie Girl" (and briefly tried to get more out of him on "Teeth", but he wasn't talking). Take me to the interview!

Although his mother mistreated him and is now dead, Frank (Joe Spinell), a photographer by day, misses her. In a grotesque act of reminiscence, he kills young women at night and puts their scalps on mannequins masquerading around his New York apartment. He befriends a fellow photographer, but soon his day and night lives begin to meld, blurring the lines of reality... Take me to the gory photos! (Need to be logged in to view images)

There come certain perks when you are a member of Royalty. Sir Paul McCartney gets luxury box seats to game 7 of the World Series while Oprah Winfrey gets to hug Obama backstage on election night. As a member of KR royalty, I get to see pre-screenings of movies like "A Christmas Carol." Thanks to Disney's cordial invitation to this beloved holiday classic, KaylaCap and I dressed in our best and hit the road for the big city and date night with Ebenezer Scrooge... Read More!

Fight in the shadows cast by two global superpowers in a new type of Call of Duty experience. Black Ops mines decades of Cold War tensions to create riveting covert missions inspired by actual historical scenarios. Infiltrate fortresses high atop snow-covered Soviet mountains, strike your enemy deep in the jungles of Southeast Asia, and more. Use authentic Cold War-era vehicles and weapons on missions that combine stealth with full-blown combat. ... Take me to the video!
