Day 5 Recap: Day 6 Preview

Rate this Entry
A busy day marked the half way mark of the 2012 edition of the Toronto International Film Festival. Christopher Walken, Bill Murray, Selena Gomez, Helen Hunt, Will Smith, Rob Zombie and Zac Efron were just a few of the names in town Monday.

Terrence Malick’s North American Premiere of To The Wonder was the hot ticket of the day. But Bill Murray’s Hyde Park on Hudson was an equally electric atmosphere.

We had two screenings yesterday, The Impossible and Berberian Sound Studio. Reviews will follow, but The Impossible was a strong, emotional film that when not tugging our emotional strings, it was repulsing audiences with its graphic scenes of the effects of the 2006 tsunami.

Tuesday is one of our heaviest days of the festival. There are 75 films showing today and we are seeing all but 70 of them. Of the 5 we will sit through, we will see Neil Jordan’s Byzantium, Helen Hunt in The Session, Alex Rubin’s Disconnect, the horror film Hellbenders and the comedy (sort of) Sightseers.

Long Day.
