Default When did you decide to play video games?

I have to say I was kinda forced into being a gamer. Not that I am complaining but I feel if I were to have an addiction, video games its is. My parents used to go to my grandparents house once or twice a month to play cards. I was only around 5 or 6 and was told to go to another room while they played.

My grandpa was a gamer to start with while he played many Pac-Man and Intellivision games to this day, he can't jump to anything newer. That left us to play his Intellivision games while they played cards. Pac-Man was the only game my sister and I could share. My Grandfather made a transition to get a Nintendo, but always asked for my help when he played. He turned into my dealer. (lol)

Nowadays my grandpa still plays Ms. Pac-Man and Dr. Mario. I moved on to buy almost every system that came out. I now own all 3 of the latest systems and really only play on 2 of them. The Wii being my paperweight ,hoping my wife and daughter would use but don't. I love playing them and often stay up way later than I should gaming the night before I have to work.

Occasionally I pull out the old Intellivision and play some Dungeons and Dragons just for nostalgia.

I decided to play once my parents bought me my first system: The Colecovision. Yes the system that rivaled the Atari. It was the best thing I had ever owned at that time. I think I got it for christmas and my first two games were Lady Bug and Mr.Do! Me and my friends played the shit out of it. From there I got other games such as The Smurfs, Looping, Zaxxon, Donkey Kong, Burger Time, Tapper, Space Panic, Avenge, Carnival, Gabbage Patch Kids (don't ask), Mouse Trap and Q-Bert

There was an arcade near my house when I was a kid. It had pinball, pac-man and it's ilk, and also a mechanical bull. So I was indroctrinated at a pretty young age. But we didn't get a nintendo until I was fourteen, and I've had a gaming system off an on ever since.

I was an arcade kid when I was younger. Dragon Slayer, Tron, Space Invaders and Defender ruled the day. I was never any good though. Too much hand eye coordination.

Had an Atari and a Intelevision but then nothing through my later years and into adulthood until PS3 was released.

My family got an Atari when I was 5 and we played a ton of Combat, Outlaw, Pac-Man, and Indiana Jones. We also frequented a Pizza Inn that had a Galaga c0cktail cabinet (and a rotation of other arcade stand-ups). To this day I still love playing Galaga and played as recently as last weekend. My wife and I regularly discuss buying a Galaga/Ms.Pacman cabinet for our home. We had that conversation a few days ago and stood pat on our plan to wait until we move into our next home (in 5 to 10 years). The Gameboy and Nintendo were a big part of my life from 11 to 15. I didn't game much from 16 to 22 when getting laid and drinking beer became my favorite hobbies. In 1996 I settled down a bit a became an avid PC Gamer until 2001 when the XBOX was released.

    Great question!

My older brothers had an Atari which I started playing when I was around the age of eight. I rememeber the game ADVENTURE blowing my mind.

A few years later my parents bought me an NES and that changed my life forever. I decided to play through tons of different games as apposed to playing sports like Brain Chomper. He played baseball I got really good at video games.

As the years passed I pretty much bought every mainstream system and played through hundreds and hundreds of games. That was my thing, I always played the games to completion.

When I got into my late twenties is when things really began to slow down. Killer Reviews, my day job and my family took up most of my free time. I would always follow new games, but I didn't play them as much. Last year was the first year in probably twenty that I didn't complete more than three games. I then made a decision this year to still be a gamer and since then I have been playing about ten hours a week. I honestly gave it a good amount of thought. Either I hang it up or buy some new games.

Boombata you just put a spark in my brain! I totally forgot I had some handheld when I was younger. I did frequent some arcades when I was younger. There were very few games I liked playing in arcades ,but loved being surrounded by all those cabinets.

The shooter style of arcade has always been my favorite style to play.

LOL! Yeah Darth! Nostalgia overload!! The only hand held arcade I remember having was Double Dragon, and a Rambo III one where all you did was shoot down helipcopters.
