So Dawn, you were more interested in watching older movies than current movies of the time? How did you learn about the older films while you were growing up?

Hey Butfcher and Dawn.I grew up watching older hooror movies too (thast's movies from the 50's to early 70s) I'm an old man of 40 now.,That's because every Saturday night the BBC used to show Hammer horror movies, long before i could get to see them in the cinema themnin the ealy days of video, the movies released were just as likely to be 5-10 years old as current.

My mom, dad, and grandparents. My parents are both baby boomers so that's what they grew up watching. My mom would iron clothes in the morning and she always had TCM or AMC on, when AMC still showed classic movies. I would sit eating ceral and watch them with her. Those are the only horror movies she doesn't/didn't complain about me watching. My dad was more into 70's movies, so he would let me watch stuff like Alien, and Night of the Living Dead. But he was into sci-fi, so that was an extra. I should just do a blog on this, there's a lot more to the reason.

You make a good point about your parents influencing you. Neither of my parents were into movies, so I watched what ever was at the video store. It was as simple as that. But I imagine my son growing up with what I watched because I own them all on DVD and BD.

They definitely did. Bummer your folks weren't into movies. I do remember going to the video store with my dad all the time, but was limited to what I could rent.
I'm doing the same thing with my daughter. She's already seen a lot of William Castle, Vincent Price, and even Nosferatu. We still watch her movies, but she's usually in the room when I'm watching my movies

Weirdly my parents hated horror movies and my dad would only watch old westerns so they had absolutelyno influence on my watching habits. mY yiunger sister made it her mission in life to hate anything i watched -so much for family influences..)

I was born in 1974, and spent a childhood watching Godzilla flicks and Universal monsters. During my teens, there was a group of horror and sci-fi films I watched repetitively, due to them being in constant rotation on pay cable outlets, such as....
