Default A Nightmare on Elm Street 2010

Since we were going to do a complete show on the Nightmare remake but do to time and the feeling it wasn't really worth that deep of a discussion im curious to hear what everyone on here thinks about that movie. Good? Bad? Otherwise? Explain your feelings on it.

I liked it when I first saw it, but the more I watch it the less I do. It's entertaining enough and I think Jackie Earle Haley does a good job considering he had some tough shoes to fill, but Rooney Mara's acting sucked, the kills could have been better, and the CG was horrible in some spots. Overall with your guys' scale I'd go with a medium recommend. But still something I added to my collection when it came out and hell if I can watch Nightmare On Elm Street 2 in a marathon I can watch it as well

I haven't seen it again since the theater. I was not real happy when I watched it and the teasing of the pictures, micronaps, and horrible cg did not help me like the film 1 bit. I need to give it a few more views, but its kinda like H2 to me. Its there and I'm not sure I wanna watch it again, but I think I will at some point.

I liked the remake alot. I was very pleased with the film. It's very hard for me to like remakes because they usually don't do anything new and different with the character or storyline. The remake for me gave me a new Freddy that was more darker in tone then he ever was before. That was key to the films success. The remake needed to have a new actor play Freddy, or it would just feel like a sequel. The special effects were impressive but could have used a bit more imagination. The cast was just ok. I hated the actress who played Nancy! UGH! Terrible actress!!Overall though, it was more enjoyable then I ever expected. I hope they continue the series, and the same tone. I'm excited to see where they take the story.

I also liked the movie. I like Katie Cassidy (she was great on Harper's Island), Kyle Gallner (Bart from Smallville & Beaver from Veronica Mars) and Thomas Dekker (now on Secret Circle). Hated Rooney Mara - she was kind of an idiot, plus they made Nancy all dark and artistic which kind of annoyed me. Nancy was supposed to be the girl next door, not the girl with 0 friends. My favorite parts were when they combined the real world with the dream world with the micro naps - especially in the grocery store, thought that was pretty effective. Overall, the kills were not all that great - could have definitely been better, but I enjoyed the movie for what it was - good popcorn fun. I really hope that they continue to make them, because I will continue to go see them. Especially cuz Freddy is my favorite slasher.

Oh and forgot to mention. Tyler I agree that Freddy's one liners in this were pretty damn good! My favorite (besides the "7 more minutes to play") was

"Now that you've caught me, what game do you want to play next?"
    "F*** you!"
"Ooooo, sounds fun! Maybe going a little too fast for me"

It's just so Freddy if you ask me.

And I hope they do continue this series, whether sequel to the remake, another reboot (hey they're doing so with Spider Man, why not?) or do what they're doing with Texas Chainsaw Massacre and continuing the original series. I just can't get enough of Freddy and even though this one didn't do too well box office wise, he's a cash machine so they'll have to do a new one eventually. But not really sure if Englund will be coming back

I enjoyed the new movie......Haley was great.... The opening was really good (this opening felt that the movie blew its load a little to early) The cast was enjoyable but I just read an article with Rooney Mara who said that she didn't want the role and almost quit acting afterwards if she was going to get parts like this....What a bitch..... The micro naps were cool...

Problems---- The movie did not need the bathtub scene again....Freddy coming out of the wall was horrible and looked shitty even compared to the frighteners....

In all- I will always go back to the original if I want to see freddy but I wouldn't throw this one away....
