Pay doctors like teachers or pay teachers like doctors, that would straighten some shit out.

Not a fair reflection on the reality.

There are many life saving procedures that take place in the US not available anywhere else in the world. Money for this research has to come from somewhere right?

For a nation that is very efficient at killing, your pretty good at saving life too.

On the flipside, the general British stereotype of us having bad teeth. You can get a check up and polish for less than £50. Full new set of teeth for under £500 or even the full white polish for £100.

A prescription for drugs is about £8. Meds that would set you back hundreds on open market.

But then you don't get much pioneering treatment.

My favourite sexual position is the magician. I take a girl from the street, screw her, saw her in half and then make her disappear.

I promise you that most of the money does not go to research. We have government organizations (ie the NSF and the NIH) that pay for the research that comes out of tax money. Working on medicinal research has made me realize how backward the system is. Granted, some of that money will go to buying the equipment and training needed to start using new techniques but very little if any goes to development. Healthcare is absurd in the US. My sister just had a C-section at 7 months. The cost for the Doctor's (just the doctors, nothing else) for my niece's stay in the NICU was $1300 A DAY. She was there for nearly 2.5 months. My sister and her husband had to pay $10,000 just for my sister's hospital bills, after insurance. That is fucking insane.
I became insane, with long intervals of horrible sanity.

Probably takes my approach and does home medicine/ only go to the hospital when ABSOLUTELY necessary. I can fix damn near anything at home short of an amputation (although I now have a new circular and reciprocating saw, so that might change).

It's true. I've had to assist in some of the procedures.

All this while our politicians (Both Dems and Repubs) receive top tier free healthcare and medicine for life while lecturing us about our healthcare. And don't get me started on the costs of taking care of another countries fleeing population for free. Yea I said it.
