This past weekend in Australia was our first Comic-con convention. Stan Lee was the major guest and it was his first and most probably only visit down under.
He has been one of my idols and inspirations since childhood, but because I don't follow a lot of news and celebrity blogs I failed to obtain any of the pricey VIP passes that quickly sold out. So with the rest of the general admission horde I lined up early. But not early enough, as the crowds were huge. I totally underestimated the cosplay and rabid fandom types and after waiting for 3 hours I missed out on getting my books signed by 20 fucking minutes!
I managed to see him give his Q&A which was fantastic, even if he does repeat himself (the audience asking stupid questions not his fault). I feel fortunate enough to have seen him live, especially considering he is not long for this world anymore.
I understand the American conventions have become nightmares of overcrowding and poor management. So I want to hear from people who from no lack of trying have missed out on the genuine autograph they had to have from Stan the man.
That sucks. I am taking Butcher to see him in August. We are running out of time as I think he is pushing 90

yeah, he's 89. That's in Chicago right? Believe it or not I looked into going as I didn't realize missing out would upset me so much. We were going to visit Salem for Halloween, now I'm thinking of bring the trip forward. I hope you have a VIP ticket or like lining up for hours but you know the drill. GregMo make sure you and Butcher share your experience with us. Good or bad.
