Episode108 : The Dark Knight Rises (SPOILERS!)

Here we are again with another super hero installment of the show. How could we not do a show on the new Batman? So Join Ballsac, Jason, Tyler, and special guest Travis as they delve into the world of The Dark Night. We throw out thoughts on Batman, Batman Returns, Batman Forever, Batman and Robin, Batman Begins, and The Dark Knight. The main meat of the show is The Dark Knight Rises and a ample spoiler warning is given before we talk about it. Spoilers start about the 1hr 6min mark and we even roll a song before we start the talk. So once you hear the song don't listen any further if you haven't seen the movie. Im always a little self conscious about just throwing out random thoughts about movies, but hopefully you can find some enjoyment out of this. I feel like I need to see this movie again. My judgement may change a bit.

Again, too much to leave in a voicemail so I'll leave thoughts here. I did leave a voicemail after I got done watching the movie, but it's basically just me metaphorically jizzing in my pants, so I'll leave more intelligent thoughts here

And of course may be some spoilers for Dark Knight Rises, so read at your own risk.

First of all, thoughts on the past movies. 89 Batman, while not quite as good when comparing to the Nolan movies, is still pretty fun to me. I mean, Nicholson steals the whole show, I can quote the hell out of him in this movie, Big O to this movie. Batman Returns, just ok, nothing special to me, even though it does have Walken in it, but medium recommend overall. Batman Forever, even as I have grown up and realized how campy it is, still good with a nostalgic factor. Plus was a huge Jim Carrey fan back in the day, but man I would have loved to seen how Tommy Lee Jones would have done being a more serious Nolanesque Two Face. High recommend. Batman and Robin... Clooney being Clooney as Batman, bat nipples, bat credit card... low recommend only because I've seen worse.

Nolan though, man what can you say? Batman Begins was amazing, only complaint is I would have loved to seen more Scarecrow. I mean, when he does officially go crazy and escapes Arkham, it's basically just "Haha! I'm Scarecrow!" ZAAAPPP! "Bye bye." I know Ra's Al Ghul was the central villain, but still think Crane should have gotten more than that. High recommend either way. And Dark Knight, man this will go on for pages if I were to talk about how much I loved that. Ledger was fuckin' awesome, as many people know. Favorite scene of him has to be the video of when he captured and kills the Batman wannabe and yells "LOOK AT ME!" And the pencil trick of course. Big motherfuckin' O for this one!

Dark Knight Rises was just amazing too. Tyler you were right that this was an emotional thrill ride pretty much. The last half hour of this movie had me more on the edge of my seat than any other movie has! As always, cast nailed it, especially Gordon Levitt, Hathaway (btw can't have a post from me without saying how amazing her ass looked!), and Hardy... oh man. After this and Inception he's becoming a favorite of mine. Again I could go on and on about this, so I'll just say BIG O!

And as far as I'm concerned, this series is done with! Nolan and Bale don't want to do another one, then just leave it be. Reboot it eventually, but we know it will be hard to follow this series up, how could you find better people to play Gordon, Wayne and Alfred? Well sorry for the long post, but I'm pretty passionate about Batman.

Those are all solid points. It would be very interesting to see exactly where he would have gone with Levitt finding the Batcave and Bruce Wayne supposedly dead, but I guess we can only dream.
