In an attempt to rape just about all of my childhood memories and turn them into rebooted money grabs, Sony Pictures Animation as secured the rights to ALF and are looking to bring the television alien with an appetite for cats to the big screen.
Heat Vision is reporting that Sony, producer Jordan Kerner (Smurfs) and the show creators Tom Patchett and Paul Fusco are looking to develop ALF (Alien Life Form, btw) into a live-action/CGI event film.
A writer and a director have yet to be signed, but it looks like the project is marching forward and the furball will land in theatres before long.
Oh, and no truth to the rumor that ALF’s last name is UKU (you’ll get the joke eventually)

Furry things that can talk are hot. After the money Ted just made this is not surprising.
Really!? Live action/CGI, so I'm guessing that ALF will no longer be a puppet, but an animation atrocity? This is just lame. Why can't they just leave certain shows alone, they were good the first time around, and now they're just going to be crap
At least they are keeping the guy who did the voice of the character from the TV show.

If they hire Gaspar Noé to write the screenplay I might check it out.
I wonder if Lars Von Trier is available?

This is ridiculous, yet fascinating. In high school, my buddies and I brought back an ALF revival. We would do the "HA!" laugh all the time and other shit, annoying everyone in school. I even still have a tv dinner tray with ALF in a tuxedo adorning it that I bought at a flea market that year.
I'm kinda surprised they haven't made a movie yrs ago. I think though that the novelty of Alf also is long gone. I could be wrong, but I don't think todays audience would care.
