Licking his wounds from the poorly received box office bust Total Recall, director Len Wiseman is now setting his sights on a Universal monster as his next project.
According to Deadline, Wiseman (also known as the man behind the Underworld franchise) is attached to direct a reboot of The Mummy with Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci producing.
The script comes courtesy of Jon Spaihts who penned the first draft of Prometheus for Sir Ridley Scott.
"I'm really excited to write something scary," Spaihts told us when we spoke last week, presumably being forgetful that Prometheus is meant to be in the same space horror arena as Alien, and when we asked him if he was a bigger fan of the Universal Monsters movies of the ‘30s or the more recent action-adventure movies, he gave us a rather diplomatic response: "They both have their virtues and they've all been tremendously popular films and really influential in the popular culture. I would hope to pluck some of the elements of both of those series."

If I were Spaihts, I'd just give up on the "scary" aspect considering the director hired.
The only thing scary about this project is that hack Wiseman is on board. No doubt he will be dragging his fucking wife along with him. So yes this is going to be a scary movie. One I will torrent and never spend a dime on. That will learn em.
