We were wrong. Yes, we said it. After struggling through the entire running time of the gawd-stupid Taken 2, we wrote in our review that it all but assured there would be no Taken 3.

Funny how a $50 million opening changes things.

Writer Robert Mark Kamen says that a Taken 3 will be moving forward. “We didn't start talking about [Taken 3] until we saw the numbers," explains Kamen. "But then we said, 'Oh, OK. I think we should do a third one.' And Fox wants us to do a third one."

Thankfully, the movie looks like it will go in another direction. “How many times can she be taken?” Kamen reasons. “It's bad parenthood after that. Taken 3 is going to go in another direction. Should be interesting."

Whether they do 3, 4 or even 50 Taken movies, we just hope that any follow-up includes a plausible interesting story that is not simply a copy of all other action films that have ever been produced.
