Are we feeding the monster in Nathaniel Nose’s gruesome new horror film, Cut/Print? As a ‘reality generation’ has become more and more de-sensitized to violence, watching Taliban beheadings or the corpse of Gadaffi on YouTube, there has to eventually be consequences. Cut/Print takes a look at what
happens when filmmakers push the envelope for reality cinema and the cost for their moral ambiguity and compromised ethics. Is there a little bit of “The Maestro” in you?
Vince Orlando and Jeff Burton’s serial killer “The Maestro” could very well be the new Hannibal Lector.
Randy Godwin gives a chilling and outstanding performance as the “The Maestro”. Think Zodiac meets
Silence of the Lamb. “I was quite impressed,” states executive producer Tim Sullivan “and saw the
potential for a brand new ‘horror icon’ in the character of ‘The Maestro’. This was his [Godwin] final
performance and it really is something else, incredible!”
“The visual style and editing pace of the movie is all Nathaniel [Nose]; he’s young and really talented,”
Orlando said of the director. “In early conversations he [Nose] would say,” ‘I keep thinking if Tarantino
were to make a Blair Witch Project, how would he do it?’
This ‘what if’ mentality pushed their concept forward, attracting the attention of local and Los Angeles
talent including horror film icon, Ken Foree. Internationally distributed Michigan filmmaker and producer Jeff Burton brought his twelve years of horror film experience and uncanny ability to wear multiple hats to Cut/Print helping shepherd the project through its final phases. “He [Orlando] called with his typical ‘Orlando enthusiasm’ about a project called Cut/Print and I knew when Vince gets that ‘feeling’ – stand back!” confided Burton, “ I had no hesitation in bringing Nathaniel [Nose] in to direct and the rest is history!”
Detroit artists Paradime of Kid Rock’s Twisted Brown Trucker Band and Detroit Rapper Trick Trick are
also featured in the film, adding comic relief and breaking up the unrelenting and disturbing horror of the film. “It can’t be all one tone or no one is going to watch it” Orlando noted, “...they [the audience] have to care about the characters.”
Michael Ilitch Jr., one of the heirs to the Little Caesar’s pizza fortune, was eager to be an executive
producer for Orlando’s new film Cut/Print, having previously executive produced his [Orlando] last film
“Life Goes On”, also scheduled for release through New World Distribution. “I am motivated by Orlando’s passion and talent which, I see as a valuable contribution to the Michigan Film Industry” exclaims Ilitch. "We are excited to be working on “Cut/Print,” said New World Distribution founder Cary Floyd “ as it [Cut/Print] poses a morals question for the reality generation.”
New World Distribution CMO Travis Cloyd says, “The streets of Detroit are going to be a lot scarier with
this film in town. Talk about the perfect date night movie for a Halloween scare. Can you handle it?”
In honor of Randy Godwin, the producers have decided to donate a portion of the proceeds from the film to the American Foundation for the Prevention of Suicide, after discussions with Godwin’s family.
