Default Kurt Russell to star in new horror-western

    Color me interested.

Thanks to The Thing, Big Trouble in Little China, Tombstone and Escape from New York, Kurt Russell has always been one of my favorite actors. Kurt has always been able to bring a playful side to serious roles in a way that Mel Gibson was once able to do before he went all KKK on us.

Unfortunately, Kurt hasn’t exactly been filling up his play card as of late. After Kurt starred in Poseidon back in 2006, he has been in exactly one feature film – Tarantino’s Death Proof. And although he was wonderful as the demented speed freak Stuntman Mike, all Death Proof did was remind us of how much we miss the guy who’s computer wore tennis shoes. Russell was attached to play a role in Tarantino’s soon-to-be-released Django Unchained, but later pulled out like a high school student looking to ensure he doesn’t get his prom date pregnant.

Luckily, news broke today that Kurt Russell will be headed back to the big screen. And in a horror no less. Variety is reporting that Russell along with Peter Sarsgaard (Green Lantern), Richard Jenkins (Let Me In) and Jennifer Carpenter (Dexter) will all star in the new S. Craigh Zahler directed horror-western, Bone Tomahawk.

According to the site, the film "follows a sheriff (Russell), a gunslinger, a befuddled oldster (Jenkins) and a cowboy (Sarsgaard) as they attempt to rescue a group of captives (including Carpenter) from a band of cannibalistic troglodytes."

Welcome back Gabriel Cash. I missed you.
