Default Poltergeist Remake Coming on November 24, 2010

ShockTillYouDrop.com has learned that MGM's planned remake of Tobe Hooper's classic '80s haunted house movie Poltergeist has received a release date of November 24, 2010, Thanksgiving weekend. With director Vadim Perelman (House of Sand and Fog) attached since last September, the production has been in development a long time with a script surfacing last year, but so far, no cast has been announced and no information about where or when they might start filming.

I think this might actually be a good movie with Vadim Perelman directing. I doubt it will be as scary as the original though. This movie ruined clowns for me like Jaws did with the ocean.

How did it ruin clowns for you? Am I forgetting a scene with clowns?

Every night when the little boy went to bed he would stare at this creepy clown doll from across the room. Eventually it comes alive.

Well I think this is one remake that actually might have a higher rating than the original (PG, thank you Steven Speilberg), I think it's safe to assume it'll be PG-13 in this day and age. You know what I'd like to see though is just some of the little things, like the parents smokin a j in their bedroom haha. Imagine if this film turned out to have a dark legacy like the original...oooo that'd be creepy!

again, a movie that might be good for a sequel or follow up but not a remake. The one thing i hate about reamkes is they start back at the beginning and i want to see a brand new story with the same characters.

I heard talks of a sequel but i don't think the old cast would come back. But if they did- good news is they can still include Carol Anne. Even though the actress who played Carol Anne ( Heather O'Rourke) passed away when she was very young, the charcter never did. So, they could get an actress to play Carol Anne as old as she would be today (30's?) I would dig it if they did that, a new Carol Anne, and bring back Carig T. Nelson and Jobeth Williams , but fuck Robbie, they can put his ass in the remake.

Dont foget Half of the original cast is dead,

    The Poltergeist curse from Wikipedia
The "Poltergeist curse" is the rumor of a supposed curse attached to the Poltergeist motion picture series and its stars. The rumor is superstition largely derived from the fact that four cast members died in the six years between the release of the first film and the release of the third, with one dying during production of the second film. Two of them died at young ages, 12 and 22. It is not clear that these particular films are atypical in the number or nature of the deaths of their actors, and at least two of the supposed victims had serious health problems before becoming attached to the film series.[1]

The actors who are supposed victims of the curse include:

Dominique Dunne, who played the oldest sibling Dana in the first movie, died on November 4, 1982 at age 22 after being strangled by her jealous boyfriend.[2] The boyfriend, John Thomas Sweeney, was convicted of voluntary manslaughter and sentenced to six years in prison, but was paroled after serving three and a half years.[1]
Julian Beck, 60-year-old actor who played Kane in Poltergeist II: The Other Side, died on September 14, 1985 of stomach cancer diagnosed before he had accepted the role.[3]
Will Sampson, 53 years old, who played Taylor the Medicine Man in Poltergeist II, died as a result of post-operative kidney failure and pre-operative malnutrition problems on June 3, 1987.[4]
Heather O'Rourke, who played Carol Anne in all three Poltergeist movies, died on February 1, 1988 at the age of 12 after what doctors initially described as an acute form of influenza but later changed to septic shock after bacterial toxins invaded her bloodstream.[5] At the time, she had suffered acute bowel obstruction, initially diagnosed as Crohn's disease, which may have been the cause of death.
The Poltergeist series is considered by some to be the most famous of a handful of movies and television series said to have been cursed.

Zelda Rubenstein just passed as well
