Good or bad there is no way to properly rate or rank any of these movies in any kind of order except from episode one to episode six. The complete series is all that matters the entire story archtype set the standard for any Space Epic ever done before and after.

So to all the die hard fans of the series I say boo to those that cannot appreciate all the movies on an equally awesome level for which they should be held, and your "die hard fan" status has officially been revoked.

Even if you were raised by wolves in a cave, I'm guessing you would have come across them at some point.

You should continue to avoid them. They are a product of their time. It takes child-like enthusiasm and/or nostalgia to enjoy Star Wars.
I swear i did not avoid them. I might save them for when i retire in 25yrs. I have seen small parts of the films and know the story loosely so kind of always felt its been slightly ruined for me. So hard to commit to so many films that i know the outcome of.

I dunno.....Empire is always gonna top my list, but....after that....

    Empire Strikes Back
    A New Hope
    Revenge of the Sith
    Return of the Jedi
Attack of the Clones and Phantom Menace (tie for the bottom)

I just see a lot of merit to Phantom, despite JarJar and the take over of Naboo by the banking guild (I think it's the banking guild, I try not to revisit it too much as my eyes will dry out and explode into dust) being totally non-material. Not a great film overall, but the duel at the end of Phantom more than makes up for any crap I had to endure....well...almost....JARJAR, WHINY SLAVE KID, SILLY NOT-QUEEN-WAIT-ITS ME-NO ITS NOT!

I think they have to be appreciated on what each is on its own, agreed. But I feel like you can rank which ones you like better. I mean, Empire just has a special place in my heart because it was the first one I remember watching as a kid. And so on and so on...but now I realize what an excellent example of film work it is. Story wise, character, art wise, etc.

And the others can be accepted for their technical advancements too. The prequels especially, but even Return of the Jedi make huge strides in tech and film....

But writing wise, sometimes the prequels were hard to listen to as an adult, but that's the problem too. I'm an adult. These movies are really geared towards kids and trying to make them understand some pretty adult situations. IMO...
