Default Stand on dvd alternate endings

I recently watched the alternate ending of paranormal activity and thought it was way better then the original ending. Not to give anything away but it drops the jump scare for an actually disturbing scene. So this brings up the question how do you feel about alternative endings as a whole on dvd releases? Does it cheapen the movie in a way because it blurs the directors vision or does it offer something better? Any one else have any alternate endings that were better then the original?

I enjoy alternate endings because they show a different perspective of the movie. I just like to see where the director could have taken the movie. Usually most alternate endings don't work, thats why they end up changing them. But, for ones that do: This is my pick for an alternate ending that was better than the original. I liked the end of the workprint of Rob Zombie's Halloween far better than the theatrical ending.

I am a big fan of putting alternate endings on the dvd. I have often found in many films i prefer the alternate ending (Butterfly Effect, Paranormal activity, 28 days later had a great storyboard for an ending that they didnt even film) And it is great to hear the directors talk about why they didnt use them. Which usually is because of screen tests. But maybe this is the film nerd in me.

It seems for the must part they are edgier. Butterfly effect ending was pretty bad ass. I wonder if alot of the times it is to please the mpaa or if an ending is too bleak to make it happier for audiences. it is a cool option though

I didn't even know there was an alternate ending for 28 days later. I'm gonna have to check that out because I loved that movie, but the ending always left me feeling a little unsatisfied. So I guess I like the idea because I'm down with the ending to Paranormal Activity way more than the theatrical release.

It s really cool to hear Danny Boyle talk about it as they show the storyboard for it and talks about why they didnt film it . But i thought it was kinda cool but i understand why he did not film it. Let me know what you think when you see it.

I'm a huge fan of any alternate ending and cut scenes. I think the directors cuts for most movies are far better then when the mpaa gets a hold of them!
