Today Fox became the second network to announce their schedule changes for current running series and premiere dates for the new midseason series hitting the air next year. First up, the biggest and most worrisome change comes in the form of J.J. Abrams sci-fi procedural Fringe being pushed to Fridays in 2011. As many TV buffs know, a Friday air date is usually the beginning of the end for any series, and since Fringe hasn’t been faring as well as it used to in the ratings, this definitely isn’t a good sign.

Didn't X-Files last for years and years on Friday nights?

The show moving to Fridays works better for my weekly schedule but that is a bad sign for television shows. Friday nights is kind of like where television shows go to die. I'm really hooked on Fringe and I guess I wouldn't be surprised if it gets cancelled. I mean after all they did cancel other great shows like Heroes and most recently Syfy cancelled Caprica which was a real bummer. I mean cancelling Caprica is leaving a huge gap in the Battlestar Galactica universe. But anyway I guess I'll just enjoy Fringe while I still can and I find it kind of funny how J.J. Abrams takes all the credit for creating the show when it's really the creative works of Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci.
