Interview By The Butcher
So Cerina, what’s your background
in horror as far as being a fan? Did you grow up liking the
genre, any all time favorites?
I didn't grow up loving the horror
genre, because I was too scared. :) I watched Poltergeist at
a slumber party when I was really young (like 8) and it
traumatized me for years. But now I have a huge appreciation
for it, and I'm able to enjoy them! I love The Shining. And
I'm a big Eli Roth fan. :) And not just because of Cabin
Fever, :) but I really love BOTH Hostel 1 and 2!
How does “Return to House on
Haunted Hill” fit in with the original? Does it continue the
story at all?
I'm a bad, bad, actress. :) I never
saw the original. But it is on my list of things to do...:)
I did, however, watch the re-make. And I think Return does a
pretty good job of making it believable that kids would
return to the house.

You’re quickly becoming the
go-to-girl for horror. Is this intentional on your part or
is horror mostly what you’re offered? Where’s that romantic
comedy we’ve been waiting for?
Oh, I'm loving this question.
Well first of all, thanx! If I am the "go-to girl" it has
everything to do with the success of Cabin Fever. That movie
changed my career. So yes, after CF I got a TON of horror
movie offers, and I still continue to get them, daily. I've
unfortunately done a few horror projects that were not the
"best" films, and yes, those were offers, and yes
I needed
to do them, cause a girl's gotta pay her rent. :) Return to
House was an offer too, but I was very excited to be a part
of the project. I really wanted to do a film with the guys
at Dark Castle, and I think what they are doing with the
DVD/Navigational Cinema is really cool. As far as romantic
comedies go.... I have one! yay! FINALLY!!! It comes out in
March 2008 and its called Everybody Wants to be Italian. I'm
the lead girl and I absolutely adore the film. I've done a
ton of pilots and projects that no one has seen, but ITALIAN
is the first time the world (and my horror fans) can see me
do something other than scream with my top off. :)
There’s tons of CG in your
flick. How do you approach acting against nothing? I imagine
it must be a little channeling right?
Great question. It is very
interesting and VERY challenging to act with nothing and to
nothing. In a sense, you can't really prepare. Because you
have no idea what the CG will really look like, or how
scary it's actually going to be. I just ask the director a
bazillion questions and just sort of figure it out in the
moment. In a sense, you are truly "acting." In drama and
comedy, as an actor, you try to really "feel", but when
things are so technical (and non-existent) you have to work
from a different place, but it can be fun! I think I've
gotten really good at "looking scared" and screaming and
running from nothing.
So if “Return to House on
Haunted Hill” has one thing going for it it’s lots of sexy
girls getting naked. It baffles me how you managed to get
through the entire film without losing the shirt. Is the
world coming to an end and I wasn’t told? I guess I’m
asking, was nudity ever an issue with you, as far as you
being naked?
Very funny. :)
Okay, well, I'm sure the producers would have LOVED for me
to take my shirt off, but that was in the contract from the
very beginning. My agents/managers would not let me do the
film if there was any nudity. So, some other lucky chicks
got to do those scenes. :) Now, I'm not sure about your last
question... but I think your asking if I have issues being
nude on set? Well, when I have to do nude scenes, it's
always weird. But it's done so "professionally" that it
doesn't really bother me until it's actually on the "big
screen" and all over the internet and mailed to me in the
form of photos for me to sign. :) Then it's really hard.
Cause were all human. (yes, even us actresses that get nude)
And it's hard to put all of yourself out there... and then
have everyone comment and judge. But, for the record, (to
all those talking crap on IMDB) "they're real."

At any point during filming did
you ever feel an entity or unexplained collection of energy
brush up against your breasts? Just curious...
WHAT!? Oh, Gregg, I have no idea
what that means. But I think I can safely say "no." :) I
have had guys in bars "accidentally" bump into them... but
that's another story. :)
So if you had to pick one
element of the film that you were looking forward to horror
fans seeing what would it be; the deaths? The girls? The
scares?
The deaths. I think the death
scenes are all pretty cool and different.
Is it more fun playing the
victim or the villain and why?
Hmmm. Well, boring answer, but I
think it's nice to change it up. I wouldn't want to pick
just one. They are both fun, and both challenging, and I
hope to continue playing both...:)
What was the last awesome horror
movie you saw?
HOSTEL 2! Yep! Hostel 2.
Anything else you’re working on
that you’d like to mention?
Yeeeeeeeeeees! I'm excited to start
doing publicity for Everybody Wants to Be Italian, cause I
am in love with the film. :) AND, I co-wrote a book! Yep,
I'm a writer now too. It's called How to Eat Like a Hot
Chick. It's a diet/non diet book for women with an uplifting
message. Jodi Lipper and I worte the book because we were
tired of all the crap out there that makes women feel guilty
and confused. We remind women that they are hot, and give
little tips and tricks as we also give them permission to
enjoy the things they love. It's a funny, sexy book between
girlfriends. And it's the first in the Hot Chick series. yay!
go to
HeyDayProductions.com for more info. But it's in
stores Dec. 26th and Harper Collins is publishing! we are so
excited...
Also writing screen plays. So
fingers crossed that one of them sells! :)
