Get ready to see a lot more of Guy Pearce at your local theatre. Pearce is presently playing the lead in the sci-fi underachiever Lockout and will also show his acting chops in the highly anticipated Alien prequel, Prometheus directed by Ridley Scott.
If those two roles weren’t enough to get the L.A. Confidential star back into the limelight, his choice to play Dr. Aldrick Killiian in Iron Man 3 just might. Iron Man 3 is being directed by Shane Black (Kiss, Kiss, Bang, Bang) and will follow the Warren Ellis 2005 comic book storyline “Extremis”.
Extremis will find our titular hero Tony Stark playing around with nanotechnology created by Pearce’s Killian. However, the technology finds its way into the hands of terrorists (rumored to be lead by Sir Ben Kingsley) and Stark must don the Iron Man suit in an effort to thwart plans the terrorists have to use the virus to destroy the world.
Iron Man 3 will be co-produced with China (huh?) and franchise regulars Gwyneth Paltrow and Don Cheadle will be back on the Marvel Studios project which is being described as the final chapter in the solo Iron Man story.
