Former television star Joseph Gordon-Levitt is getting a lot of plumb roles lately. He turned in some magnificent work in (500) Days of Summer and last year’s 50/50 and he got to work with Christopher Nolan (twice!) with Inception and The Dark Knight Rises due out later this summer.
Gordon-Levitt’s recent string of success has allowed him to pick and choose his projects at his convenience and Heat Vision is reporting that the former 3rd Rock from the Sun star is setting his sights on a remake of Little Shop of Horrors for Warner Bros.
Marc Platt (Wanted) is producing a new version written by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, but no director has yet to be signed.
Little Shop of Horrors has been on the screen twice before. Roger Corman filmed the original back in 1960 starring Jack Nicholson and Frank Oz gave us an updated musical version in 1986 starring Rick Moranis and Steve Martin.
The film follows a nerdish florist who finds his chance for success and romance with the help of a giant man-eating plant who demands to be fed.
