Zack Snyder’s Superman film Man of Steel has been full of disappointments and we haven’t even seen a teaser yet.
The first disappointment came when Warner Bros. moved the release date from late 2012 to June of 2013. 2012 could have been the year of the Superhero (well, I guess it still is) with the releases of Spider-Man, The Dark Knight Rises, The Avengers and Man of Steel bringing up the rear.
The change in release dates coincided with rumors of various rewrites of the script by David S. Goyer. And when you begin to hear stories of rewrites you’re excused if you begin to prep your eyebrows for raising.
If that news wasn’t discouraging enough, Indiewire.com reported today that the film is being ‘converted’ for 3D and IMAX. Principal photography has long wrapped on Man of Steel and going back and ‘converting’ the film into a 3D format gives us the Clash of the Titans shivers.
Sure, 3D helps with the box office totals, and yes, IMAX brought in some serious dollars for Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol, but goddman! Millions of average filmgoers will not have the advantage of knowing that the film was not intended for a third dimension. They will fork out countless dollars more in premium ticket prices than what is necessary to see what was intended for 2D.
Superman fights for justice. Where is the justice in that?
