The best news I have heard all week is about a film that might NOT get made. Producer Frank Marshall talked to Collider on the potential for a fifth Indiana Jones film. And from the sounds of it, fans shouldn’t hold their breath awaiting more Indy adventures.
“I say, for me, [Kingdom of the Crystal Skull is] the last hurrah," says Marshall. "I know that yes, we talk about it, but there’s no idea, there’s no MacGuffin.” Last we'd heard was that Spielberg and Lucas were working on a "gem of an idea", but apparently that hasn't developed into a fully blown script."
There had been previous talk about a fifth film with Steven Spielberg and Harrison Ford each expressing interest (George Lucas is now retired – wink, wink, nod, nod). But with Ford already receiving Social Security cheques and a script not in any form of development, it might be time to put away the bullwhip and fedora and exhaust our energies on sequels that are actually going to happen. You know. Like Ghostbusters 3.
