Seems either audiences can’t get enough of The Amityville Horror or studios think that audiences can’t get enough of The Amityville Horror.
The Long Island home that was the scene for a six-victim homicide in the early 1970’s generated a best selling book and a rather successful film starring James Brolin and Margot Kidder. Since then, the original story has been stretched into a franchise of countless sequels and one reboot starring Ryan Reynolds in 2005.
And now, The Hollywood Reporter tells us that there is not one, but two Amityville Horror movies in the pipeline. Dimension Films is hard at work on a ‘found footage’ story with The Amityville Horror: The Lost Tapes and Evergreen Media is working on their own story which is based on the actual events of Laura DiDio and Marvin Scott who visited the house in 1976 and held a séance in an attempt to call out the spirits that are rumored to live in the house.
Seems like the house with the window eyes will provide scares long into my twilight years.
