If you were of the pessimistic side of the idea that a Bill and Ted 3 movie might actually go into production, well you can do an about face and show some optimism now that the project has officially gotten itself a director.
We head last month that stars Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter were attached and excited about the idea of reprising their roles as the two simple minded high school students Bill Preston and Ted Logan that travel through time and meet some of history’s most interesting characters. And now it is being reported by Vulture that Dead Parisot (Galaxy Quest) will be yelling out orders as the director behind the camera.
Creators of the original two films, Ed Solomon and Chris Matheson have already completed a script which sets the two characters in today’s world.
"When we last got together, part of it was that Bill and Ted were supposed to have written the song that saved the world, and it hasn't happened," Reeves said. "So they've now become kind of possessed by trying to do that. Then there's an element of time and they have to go back."
Parisot is busy directing Red 2 so the project will not be going into production until likely 2013, but it looks like it is definitely happening.
