Cinematographer Mike deBruy and writer/producer Andrew Wight were killed yesterday when their helicopter crashed in eastern Australia.
The two were working on a documentary about New Guinea and were scouting locations when their chopper crashed 97 miles north of Sydney.
National Geographic and director James Cameron confirmed the identities of the two filmmakers citing, “the deep sea community has lost two of its finest”.
Mike deBruy had won many awards including an Emmy and Bafta for his cinematography work and was the writer/producer of the James Cameron endorsed Sanctum in 2010. deBruy was also the Director of Photography for Cameron’s Last Mysteries of the Titanic.
