Ever wonder what the most popular title on Video On Demand is of all-time?  The answer might surprise you.

Sure, VOD is still fairly new to many households, but the #1 most ordered film is not an action adventure or anything to do with a superhero.  Nope.  It’s Bridesmaids, the delightful and gut busting comedy starring Kristin Wiig that took the box office by storm in 2011. 

Universal Pictures made the announcement yesterday detailing that Bridesmaids had over 4.8 million rentals in its (only) 4 months of release.  To that stat, we offer an emphatic ‘wow!’. 

The 4.8 million rentals added another $24 million to the films reaping totals and if pay-per-view, hotel offerings, VOD and other electronic sell-through business were all totalled, there’s an estimate of over $40 million added to the $287 million worldwide gross.
